Department of Pathology is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipments and has dedicated motivated, qualified pathologists and the technical staff, who work in close coordination with the clinicians and the basic scientists to provide best quality services for diagnosis, patient care and advance research.
Histopathology and cytopathology divisions provide opinions on all kinds of tissue specimens particularly hepato-biliary-pancreatic, gastrointestinal and renal cases for tumors, infections, inflammation and transplant rejections. USG- and CT-guided FNA, imprint and squash preparation, frozen section examination, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence facilities are all being done giving utmost importance to the quality and standards.
Pathology laboratory is actively involved in research and works hand in hand with basic scientists in areas pathobiology of liver failure, cirrhosis and its relationship to clinical outcomes, immunohistochemical and molecular studies in HCC and stem cell biology. Future research aims are directed towards cytogenetic studies for biliary malignancies, disease mechanisms through explant liver studies and renal pathology associated with liver disorders.
Pathology laboratory also participates in and organizes case conferences, clinico-pathology conferences, Oration, updates, seminars, symposia, training programs and teaching courses and gives utmost importance to publication of their hepato-biliary data in indexed international and national journals.
Pathology department has started Post-Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in hepatopathology and is actively involved in teaching programs for DM, MCh., PhD students and for senior residents and lab technicians.
