Adiponectine, a 138 kd protein, is an antiinflammatory adipocyto-kine and is secreated by adipose tissue, its genetic structure comprises of three exons, our interest in this project was to identify the  single nucleotide polymorphism in the exons of this gene which correlates to the patohological status of patients with NAFLD and NASH. We assessed and correlated the pathophysiological significance of the level of adiponectine to BMI, AST, ALT, Oil red O staining, etc. Further we identified that in  patient with NAFLD, NASH, the level of adiponectine correlated well with fatty acid binding protein
