Department of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery and Liver Transplantation
The Department of HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation offers high end services to patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. ILBS has become a high volume center of excellence for complex liver and pancreatic surgeries. It is the only public sector undertaking with a successful living donor liver transplantation program. The Department has performed 125 liver transplantations till date. Advanced laparoscopic and pediatric HPB Surgeries are being performed with increasing frequency.Equipped with state of the art infrastructure and dedicated professionals, our results are at par with the best international standards, providing services at an affordable cost. The Department is successfully conducting the country's first Mch program in HPB Surgery and is actively involved in clinical research.
4th Liver Transplantation Oration
The oration is an annual event to commemorate first liver transplant done on March15, 2010 in the institute. Every year a liver transplant surgeon of international repute is invited to deliver the oration. This serves as a platform to inspire residents and faculty alike from HPB Surgery, Transplantation, Hepatology, Basic sciences and related disciplines. The 2014 Liver transplantation oration is to be delivered by Professor Pierre-Alain Clavien, Professor and Chair, Division of Visceral and Transplant Surgery, University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland.
