The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences organized an Update on Transfusion Medcine on the occasion of 'World Health Day' on 7th April 2011. the theme of the update was 'Bridging the Gap' between Transfusion Specialists and Clinicians with regard to utilization of Blood. The welcome address was given by Dr S K Sarin, who invited Dr Devi Shetty to deliver the inaugral address. Dr Devi Shetty gave an enlightening talk on making healthcare available for all. The keynote address was given by Shri Sayan Chatterjee ( DG NACO) on Blood Safety. The scientific sessions covered a wide range of topics related to Transfusion Medicine in the Clinical Context. This was followed by a Panel Dicussion on the theme topic. The update was attended by over 100 delgates from varied specialities and provided an apt platform for interdisciplinary interaction.
