Accreditation is "a public recognition of the achievement of accreditation standards by a healthcare organisation, demonstrated through an independent external peer assessment of that organisation's level of performance in relation to the standards". National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH - http://www.nabh.co/) is a constituent board of Quality Council of India (QCI - http://www.qcin.org/), set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organisations.
Team ILBS proudly announces that as of January 4th 2012, the institute has the unique distinction of being the First Super Specialty government hospital in the country to be accredited by NABH. It also is the second government hospital in Delhi, and the seventh in the country to be so accredited. Preparations for NABH Accreditation were started in early 2010 and the institute applied to NABH in December 2010. Various steps towards this were taken including sensitization programs, Gap analysis, Training of Champions/Master Trainers, Committee’s formation, implementation and monitoring of Quality Indicators, and Documentation of Hospital Wide Policies and Quality Manuals. NABH Pre-Assessment for ILBS was conducted on 10th and 11th June 2011, and the Final Assessment was conducted on 16th, 17th and 18th December 2011. At both occasions the assessors were highly appreciative of the standards of patient care being followed in the institute, and commended the management highly for the steps taken to ensure world class service delivery and infrastructure. The institute intends to continue to strive ceaselessly towards higher standards of quality in patient safety and care delivery.
