Message From Vice-Chancellor

The release of the ILBS annual report for the year 2025 fills me with a sense of immense pleasure and pride. As we delve into the rich tapestry of accomplishments and milestones achieved over the past year, it is evident that ILBS, the only Liver-University in the world, continues to be a beacon of excellence in liver and renal healthcare and academia.

The academic journey has not been merely a mundane quest to complete coursework, but a commitment to innovation, research, skill development and the relentless pursuit of excellence in advancing knowledge, improving patient care, and translating evidence to practice and policy. The institute contributed to academia with over 230 high-impact publications in 2025, garnering thousands of citations, and leaving its incontrovertible impact on the research landscape. Our faculty have also made a mark as erudite trainers in numerous national training programmes, such as those held by AIIMS, National Academy of Medical Sciences, Indian Society of Gastroenterology and Department of Health Research, MoHFW. This year institute also started DNB Pulmonary Medicine along with already running DM/MCh courses in the institute. Many hands-on workshops and didactic lectures conducted by various departments have helped disseminate knowledge to our students as well as those from all parts of the country.

We take immense pride in our students, the future leaders of healthcare, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and aptitude. The research work of our students has fetched many awards and recognitions at forums of international repute, such as AASLD, EASL and APASL. This year, the ILBS made a substantial impact on the global stage of liver meetings in Europe and AASLD, presenting over 40 impressive scientific papers at the event. It is a matter of great pride for ILBS to boast of an active alumni association with over 100 past students, regularly convening for annual gatherings to celebrate and reminisce about their shared experiences.

As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare and education, ILBS remains committed to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and contributing to the betterment of society. The 16th annual report serves as a testament to our collective efforts and achievements dedicated to the cause of liver health.

My best wishes to the entire staff of the ILBS.
