Dr. Ekta Gupta at present Professor Virology, did her MD Microbiology from KGMC Lucknow, Senior Residency from AIIMS, New Delhi and Senior Research Associateship in Clinical Virology from AIIMS. She is FRC Path from Royal College of London. She was granted Gold Medal for her MD. She did post MD research work on Dengue virus for which she was awarded with “The Best Scientist Award” for outstanding contribution in clinical research by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)”. Her major research interests are in Hepatitis Viruses, Transplant viruses, Respiratory viruses and Dengue virus. Have more than 140 scientific publications in indexed National & International Journals and author of 15 chapters in books. She is the Nodal officer for WHO CC and COVID-19 testing at ILBS. She is actively involved in organizing various vaccinations and screening camps for viral hepatitis in the community. She is the Chairman of the Institutes Biosafety Committee and  active member in many other Institutional and outside the Institute Committees. She has to her credit several extramural research grants both at National and International level. She has been instrumental in initiation of a unique PDCC course in Hepato-virology and Transplant Virology at ILBS for MD Microbiology students.She is also a part of Technical resource person in the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program in India and also State Viral Hepatitis Control Program, Delhi. Team leader for the conduction of 5th and 6th serosurveys done in the Delhi State for COVID-19 IgG antibody prevalence and faculty In charge for COVID -19 genome sequencing surveillance activities.
