Dr. Bihari Completed MD pathology from SMS Medical College. His  areas of interest are Oncopathology, Vascular liver diseases, and Bone marrow dysfunction in liver diseases. Currently working as Additional Professor, Pathology at ILBS.

Dr. Chhagan Bihari is working as Professor of Pathology, and in charge of Laboratory Hematology, Biobank, and Research and Development Cell at ILBS. He has an experience of >15 years in the field of liver pathology and transplant pathology. He was able to publish 184 indexed articles in prestigious journals- Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology Communications, Histopathology, Human Pathology, APMIS, and Frontiers etc. He is an editor of one book and has been guest editor of four journals issues and wrote 6 book chapters. Dr. Bihari had 10 extramural projects with overall funding of approximately 40 crores. He was able to establish National Liver Disease Biobank, covid-19 biorepository, and a sequencing service facility at the institute. He received an outstanding achievement award in the field of biobanking in India, Innovation in Health award 2018 and collaborative training award ISTH. He facilitated academia-industry collaboration for sustainable platforms. He is a member of SRRB, and member secretary of biobank committee. Our biobank is first ever CTRnet-certified and ISO accredited biobank in India. We have also started new courses in PDCC hepatopathology, liver hematology and biobank certificate course. We were able to develop a biosamples management software which has the copyright.
