Laboratory Animal Science, Metabolic Disorders and Transgenic

Animal Research Facility & Support Services:

• Lead operation management of animal research facilities including budget and occupational health safety program for vivarium.
• Breeding and maintenance of inbred, mutant, transgenic rodents, zebrafish, New Zealand White rabbits and Beagle dogs.
• Collaborative communication and service support to research groups/faculties for animal model selection & development, animal protocol review, rodent surgery, new facility design and/or facility renovation, dietary manipulations etc.
• Training and technical support to animal care and use team members.
• Knowledge of operation, maintenance and selection of animal facility related equipment.
• Establish lab animal diet manufacturing unit to prepare experimental diet.
• Establish and oversee veterinary medical care program to maintain SPF animals.

Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance:

• Administration of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC: IACUC equivalent)
• Apply, prepare, secure and maintain accreditation from AAALAC International and national animal welfare authorities (CPCSEA).
• Animal Welfare compliance as per rules and regulations of Government of India and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (NRC 2011).
• Conduct site visits as an ad hoc specialist for AAALAC International
• Facilitate animal import processes

Mouse Transgenic:

• Establish transgenic laboratory and produced reporter transgenic mice through pronuclear microinjection. Exposure to mouse assisted reproductive techniques.
