The Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS) has been established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi as an autonomous institute, under the Societies act. ILBS is a deemed-to-be university under the UGC act and it aspires to become a unique model for an academic career both for the national and international students and the faculty. To meet its educational objective, ILBS has taken a modest beginning and currently running D.M in Hepatology, M.Ch in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, Ph.D in Biomedical Sciences etc. Adding Feathers to the Cap, to enrich the knowledge of the Nursing Fraternity, the Institution is starting with Post Graduate Courses in Nursing.

COLLEGE INFRASTRUCTURE:

Education at ILBS takes place both within and beyond the classroom, in an environment that is conducive to learning and that fosters stimulating innovation and creativity. Our natural setting in the centre of New Delhi is crucial to our identity, providing refreshment and inspiration as well as a forum for community engagement. Our facilities not only support our academic and extracurricular programs but also impart a sense of permanence, stability, tradition and stewardship.

Physical facilities have been expanded to create an ambience conducive for academic excellence and holistic development. The Institute has spacious class rooms, laboratories, multipurpose hall and a central library. The college is situated within the hospital campus which is an added advantage for the students to gain hands on experience.

AUDITORIUM:

Auditorium acts as a common platform for students, faculty and corporate personalities for regular interaction, conferences and other events. Most of the academic and cultural events of the Institute are conducted in the auditorium. Centralised air conditioners, Wi-Fi service and a magnificent stage with green rooms are the major highlights of the auditorium. The ambiance created in these locations gives the feel of an international infrastructure to the audience.

The classrooms, auditoria and multipurpose halls are equipped with the latest audio-visual gadgets.

LIBRARY: A GATEWAY OF INFORMATION:

ILBS houses a Central Library; additionally the institute has its own departmental library and provides to its students and staff a chance to explore a world of knowledge in a conducive environment, by making accessible a rich collection of print and non-print, primary and secondary material in various disciplines. The Libraries support the academic as well as research needs of students and teachers of the Institute. The collection comprises of Books, CD’s, Videos, Theses, Standards and Back Volumes. The Library functions round the clock. The library is attached with a reading room which has access to internet facilities.

HOSTEL:

A Home away from Home. The University offers hostels for boys and girls supervised 24X7 by vigilant security personnel. Life-on-campus not only helps students to study but to socialize with their peers. Students have the luxury of being located outside the bustle of the city, yet not far from the attractions of the city during weekends. Well furnished twin sharing rooms with all amenities to ensure comfort for the students.

COLLEGE COMMITTEES:

A Team of experts represent a diverse blend of leading scholars and distinguished healthcare professionals who amalgamate together in bringing out real world experience to the classroom. The college has the following committees.

• Curriculum and Evaluation committee:

  Plans, organizes and evaluates the overall implementation of the curricular and co - curricular programmes

• Student/Staff Welfare Committee:

  Identifies, communicates and co-ordinates matters concern to welfare and development of students and staff. Their function is towards student selection, participation in Journal club, Publications and Presentations in National and International forums etc.

• Library Committee:

  Reviews, consults and advises on, plans for, and receives reports and recommendations on the performance of library services and allocation of resources.

• Anti Ragging and Student Disciplinary Committee:

  Maintains ragging free atmosphere in the campus. Plans, develops and displays the rules and regulations to be followed by the students at college, clinical /practice field and hostel. Maintenance of professional behaviour/etiquettes among students throughout the course.

• Research and Ethical Committee:

  Conducts Research and Grants ethical clearance to the candidates conducting research in the field of Nursing after scrutinizing the problem statement, feasibility, its benefits to Nursing profession and confirmation that the research will be conducted as per the guidelines of ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research).
