Indian Metabolic and Liver Disease (IMELD)
The Indian Metabolic and Liver Disease (IMELD) Study is a funded research project by ICMR initiated to develop a screening equation for fatty liver through data modelling for community-based risk stratification of individuals with due consideration to heterogeneity in epidemiological profiles across India. The project started in its first phase in three tehsils of Jaipur, Rajasthan.The IMELD project's impact on raising awareness about liver health and fostering holistic development was significant. Through activities such as screening for fatty liver using Fibroscan to assess liver fat and stiffness and evaluating participants for diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidaemia, the project provided crucial health insights.In partnership with the Airport Authority of India, the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) launched the EMPATHY (Empowering People Against Hepatitis) campaign on July 28, 2018.
