Details
1. As a part of Swachhata Drive, a training on 3Rs i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle along with Biomedical waste segregation drive i.e. segregation at the source of generation was conducted on 06.08.2025.
2. The training on 3Rs was organised for the staff and the Engineering department of ILBS presented a short PPT on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle which is also the philosophy of our Engineering department. The Engineering department apprised the trainees regarding their state of the art invention of the reversible heat pump which has proved a boon both for the environment and the Institute. This has Reused the heat expelling from the AC and have used the same for heating the water in winters for providing hot water to patients and also using the cold air coming from AC in summers to cool the drinking water in various patient and staff areas.
3. The Engineering department also demonstrated the recycling of the condemned furniture / packing material of the biomedical equipment which the department has used for making planters, dustbins, chairs, cardiac trolley etc.
4. The Biomedical Nodal officer audited various clinical areas to ensure the segregation of waste at the point of generation. She also visited the central collection and storage area to ensure the storage is done effectively. She also ensured the use of bar codes for the waste and its real time uploading on the DPCC website
